A RICHMOND ORIGINAL certification is reserved for brands, businesses, and organizations that were founded in or are uniquely tied to the Richmond Metro Area. If the concept was born here, you belong here. If it wasn't, we wish you well.
Your brand was founded, established, or conceptualized in the Richmond Metro Area — Richmond City, Chesterfield, Henrico, Hanover, Goochland, Powhatan, or New Kent. Richmond-born brands that have expanded nationally still qualify. Online-only businesses with Richmond founders qualify. Events and nonprofits rooted in RVA qualify.
You're a local franchise or licensed location of a brand that originated outside Richmond. We appreciate you being here, but the brand isn't from here. Multi-level marketing operations, businesses operating without required licenses, and businesses in excluded categories are also not eligible.
Certification is per location. If a brand has multiple Richmond Metro Area locations, each one is certified independently. Each certified location receives its own stickers and directory listing. The brand appears once on the RVA Brand Wall. Brands that operate online, are mobile, or are event-based are certified as a single entity.
This isn't a listing. It's a stamp of origin. A signal to Richmond that your brand is the real thing — born here, built here, part of what makes this city unlike anywhere else.
